Basement Planning

Remember Mathlete and his planning bug?  Well, we are moving right along with those plans!  Over the holiday break, Mathlete went over and picked up our building permit.
Yep, sorry neighbors...we are those people with the bright orange poster in the window.
While he has dreams of lumber and electrical wiring, I have my little mind churning on what will go in the rooms once they are all built.  Want to see a few?
[West Elm], [Restoration Hardware]
Here are some of the ideas for the bathroom that will be down there.  We'll probably go with the lightest of those paint colors since there are no windows or sources of natural light in there.
I love the storage that the vanity provides and definitely picture some baskets on the lower shelf.

The other part I have been focusing on is the Theater area.  I have absolutely fallen in love with these theater chairs.  Throw in a wood trunk which can double as blanket storage and nesting side tables and the furniture is pretty much complete.
I'm thinking a very airy grayish tone for the walls.  I'll bring some color in with pillows that will be on the chairs and couch that will also be part of the furniture set up.  I'm thinking maybe a pouf or two for extra seating will eventually make their way in.

If you follow me on Pinterest, you've probably seen a lot of the items I've been pinning are basement related.  Here are some of the recent highlights

Thankfully, I have plenty of time to finalize these plans along with the plans for the bedroom/craft room, bar and kid's toy area while the basement gets framed, wired, and dry walled.

Do you have a finished basement?  Any tips or things we must add in?

  1. I love the last inspiration picture. My girls would kill for a slumber party/movie viewing space like that. How wonderful that you get to plan your space from top to bottom.

  3. Love that last one! It would be even better if those cushions lift up to reveal storage space...maybe for luggage, holiday decorations, etc or just for all those pillows and some extra blankets for toasty winter movie nights.
    Arrived via TCB...cheers!
